‘Black Swan’ star Natalie Portman got married to the French dancer Benjamin Millepied on Saturday, Aug. 4 2012, in Big Sur, California in an intimate and understated Jewish wedding ceremony, along with her 14 month old son – Aleph.

The Quiet Ceremony

The moonlit wedding took place on their estate in Big Sur and in the strictest privacy. That makes Natalie Portman join the growing list of celebrities who are opting for quite, private weddings as opposed to lavish affairs thrown open to the media. A native of Jerusalem, Natalie Hershlag (her real name) wanted to respect the precepts of Judaism. According to the tradition, the bride and groom exchanged their vows after dark and in a house. After the Sabbath ritual, the festivities began under the chuppah, a canopy traditionally used in Jewish celebrations.

The Bride wore an A-Line, high neckline, tea length dress by ‘Rodarte’, which featured a sheer overlay that covered her shoulders and arms. Nude colored shoes, a veil and a floral crown completed her attire. The dress itself was simple and the crown gave a ‘hippie’ touch to the ensemble.

She has previously worn ‘Rodarte’ creations at several occasions and her famous Tutu from ‘Black Swan’ was also designed by them.

The Wedding ‘Cake’

The bride bring a vegan since 2009, there was no wedding cake, but a popular wedding cake alternative – macaroons. Whether they were vegan or not, remains to be confirmed.

Their ‘Love Story’

The couple met on the sets of Black Swan in 2009, where Millepied choreographed her dance moves for the movie. Soon after, they started dating and had a son, Aleph in June last year.
