Aside from that, who would not want to be on vacation for a day? It may sound so easy, but thinking about how you would survive without the basics like water and electricity might stir a little stress on you.

How to use the Deep Cycle Battery Charger; User's Guide

Fret not for RV are equipped explicitly with Deep Cycle Batteries to make sure that your travels and campings will be like the comforts of a traditional home. In this event, to ensure that your RV Deep Cycle Batteries will not fail you, we will guide you on how to use Deep Cycle batteries with ease.

What is a Deep Cycle Battery?

You might think that there is no need for a Deep Cycle Battery for your RV since it is a vehicle already, and a car battery can work with it just fine. If you think it this way, then it is excellent to read this article because it doesn’t work that way!

Deep Cycle Batteries are a type of energy-saving unit that transforms voltage to electricity through a chemical reaction. This process makes it possible to sustain your RV electricity for an extended period without any derail, unlike using a car battery. If you would notice, using the car’s battery for radio, cellphone charging, and the car’s air conditioning system simultaneously while at a full stop, the battery would die.

That is the reason why you can’t use a car battery with your RV. Imagine if you have a washing machine and microwave oven working at the same time. We bet that car battery won’t last long.

Types of Deep Cycle Battery

If you are going to use one, you should know which one to use. Read further, and we will give you to help you choose your preferred battery and how to take care of it.

Flooded Battery – It is also known as a Wet Cell. This battery is commonly used by many because of its affordable price. Also, its variety of sizes to choose from is an advantage to some. The wide range of sizes it offers makes it popular with buyers because it can meet anyone’s preference. This type of battery uses a lead plate, which is a sulfuric acid electrolyte and plate separator. Usually, they are not sealed and vent out the gas externally.

Maintenance: Water keeps flooded batteries maintained. This is to replenish the lost electrolyte through vents continuously. If you fail to uphold your flood batteries, it will rust and fall drastically once the lead plates touch the atmosphere. You need to remember this kind of battery because it is cheaper among others but requires a lot more work.

Absorbed Glass Matte or AGM – This type of battery is the latest and greatest of all lead-acid batteries. On top of that, it uses a separator made of fiberglass. It is placed in between the plate and wrappers to hold the electrolyte in its place. Also, this battery creates a physical connection by way of capillary action. Furthermore, the tight packaging of this battery makes it impact resistant and boosts the least internal resistance.

Maintenance: The great thing about AGM batteries is that it is maintenance-free! All you have to do is plug it and go. In this sense, it means no corrosion, no acid leaks, and no mess at all.

Gel Batteries –  This battery is also sealed, just like AGM. But that is their only similarity. Gel Batteries uses silica sand to transform sulfuric acid into a gel structure. The gel also requires a lot of care because it develops pockets; it will quickly rust the plate. Pockets usually form when the gel by exposing it to high amperage situations.

Maintenance – Gel batteries are not for fast charging/discharging situations. Always make sure to avoid using it in high amperage situations as well. This type of battery is more robust than a flooded battery when it comes to the internal structure but weaker than AGM batteries when it comes to strength.

Conclusion

Deep cycle batteries will surely make your RV lifestyle better. Aside from keeping you charged and living, it will also make your life in an RV easier. Make sure to choose the best and suitable Deep Cycle Battery for your daily needs to avoid any problem in your every adventure.
