Action Step #1: Clean Your Smartphone and Yourself Daily

Yes, you read correctly. That smartphone that remains attached to your ear is carrying more germs than a toilet according to researchers at Stanford University. Every time you use your smartphone, nasty germs get on your hands and face. The germs all over our glass screens are often the cause of skin irritations, dullness and spots. The solution? Start washing and disinfecting your smartphone at least once a day.

Along with cleaning your smartphone, don’t forget to clean your face as well. Cleanse your face morning and night, with an emphasis on night. If you want gorgeous skin, then never go to bed with your makeup on. Taking care to cleanse your skin of dirt, oil and bacteria will help keep your pores clear.

Lastly, you won’t achieve gorgeous skin by taking hot showers. While hot showers might be good for your mental health, it is not good your skin. Hot showers strips the skin of essential oils and creates mild burns. Your blood vessels actually dilate in an attempt to cool the skin. Depending on your age, it can take hours before the blood vessels shrink back to normal.

Your mother was right when she told you to get your beauty sleep. When you are sleep deprived, your skin suffers. Actually, research has shown that sleep deprivation lowers blood circulation, which leads to the skin appearing dull and washed-out. Further, not getting your beauty sleep does not give your skin a chance to heal itself. Consistently getting a good night’s rest is key to having gorgeous skin.

Not ready to cut out dairy completely? Then, try switching to skim milk because most of the cow hormones are concentrated in the fat. Also note, that switching to organic dairy products is not the solution. Organic products contain hormones as well.

One alternative to dairy that is known to boost dull skin is soy milk. It makes your skin look better by hydrating and soothing it. To perk up your skin after a bad night of rest, soak a few cotton balls in milk and then place on the skin for approximately five minutes. Be sure to squeeze out the excess soy milk before placing on your skin.
