Floral Wedding Decoration Ideas on a Budget

Every bride wants her wedding to be truly unique and special. Flowers can provide flair and design, making a statement about the personality and style of the happy couple. Deciding on just the right floral wedding decorations can be challenging, but you can solve your decorating problems creatively and keep within your flower budget.

Keep in mind the Flower Allergies

One of the challenges that frequently comes up when decorating with wedding flowers is allergies. If key members of the wedding party or even the bride or groom have serious allergies to specific flowers, the solution is, of course, to avoid using those blossoms for decorating. However, many people have allergies to everything that blooms. A great solution in this case is to use silk floral arrangements, bouquets and boutonnières.

Use Seasonal Flowers

To keep within your flower budget and have more flowers to work with, choose in-season blooms that are locally grown. Exotics can quickly run up the cost of flowers and they will not be nearly as fresh as those that are grown locally.

When decorating the altar in the church with flowers, keep in mind that elegant and understated is more impressive than having an overabundance of blossoms. One or two magnificent arrangements intermixed with candles can add just the right touch to the setting. If you need to hide some equipment, cords or other items in the church, consider using large potted ferns. These add greenery and freshness without the expense of floral arrangements.

More than just Flowers

To add fragrance, beauty and texture to the floral arrangements, include herbs and perhaps even berries. The herbs will add a nice scent and add fullness to the floral designs. Freshly cut mint is especially great to bring a wonderful fragrance into the wedding setting.

Floral Decorations within your budget

If you find yourself running out of budget for flowers, consider decorating only every other pew with flowers or decorate them all with large, luscious bows. The cost of big bows that match your theme colors is very low compared with the cost of fresh flowers for the same purpose. Another way to cut the cost of decorating the ends of the pews is to opt for ivy or asparagus fern tied with ribbon.
