The Walt Disney Companyowned and operated Walt Disney World Resort located in Orlando, Florida, USA welcomed its first guests on October 1, 1971. It opened with the Disneyland inspired Magic Kingdom Park and over the years has added Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. In addition to the four main theme parks, the resort contains two water parks, six golf courses, a sports complex, racetrack, over twenty resort hotels, and various shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings at its Downtown Disney complex. The 47 square mile property straddles Orange and Osceola counties making it the largest theme park resort in the world.
