Get a Grip on It – Laundry Hacks, Tips, and Tricks

Laundry. One of those words and tasks that everyone hates. If you are someone who puts laundry off until the very last moment, you are not alone, and you never will be. Not many people actually like to do laundry, and this means that it is easy to allow it to stack up and get backed up.

Get a Grip on It – Laundry Hacks, Tips, and Tricks

So, what could make it better? Do you need extra storage area to hold your clean or dirty laundry? What about an extravagant laundry room? While you may say yes to these, it still would not make you want to do your laundry any more than you did before. But not all hope is lost. Below, we will cover some hacks, tips, and tricks to help you get a grip on your laundry situation.

Cut Back on Laundry Time

You are probably rolling your eyes right now and that is okay. Many American families have anywhere from 25 to 50 pounds of laundry to wash a week. Oh my!

If you were to divide those numbers up, it takes many hours to get all of that done and who wants to spend their entire weekend washing, drying, and folding the laundry?

Here is an awesome way to help yourself out:

  1. Set up a system that allows you to sort out your clothes as you take them off for the day. This way, you do not have to spend time sorting and separating the laundry when it comes time to do it. For example, have a laundry cart with three hampers attached to it: one for pants and jeans, the next for shirts and tops, and the last for socks and undergarments. Simple, right?
  2. Utilize laundry bags for your socks and all of your delicate items. This helps cut down on the time you will spend hunting and searching for, especially socks, in the washer and the dryer. A lingerie bag can help you keep them all in one place.

Don’t Neglect the Stains

While you may think that you are saving time in the moment, neglecting stains only means that you will have to treat the shirt or clothing item and rewash it. If washing it once wasn’t bad enough, now you have to do it again!

Take some time to learn what stain treatment works best for your clothes and then have it on hand. Set up a system where you can treat the stains and toss the items right into the laundry.

Give Yourself Some Function

A messy or unkempt laundry room is one that will make you want to scream. Not only will you find yourself tripping over items, but you may also feel as though you do not have enough room to maneuver around and thus become frustrated.

Want to know how to give yourself some extra function? Check it out.

  1. Create yourself a drying rack that is easily accessible. A nice foldable one will do the trick and provide you with additional space to hang up clothes that need to be air dried.
  2. Consider adding more storage space in the laundry room. You can do this in a multitude of ways from utility carts to shelves and everything in between. You know your current storage space – get creative.
  3. Have a folding station where you can take the clothes from the dryer and fold them immediately. This will save you time and keep you motivated. It can be a chore to lug unfolded laundry around with you and let’s face it – no one wants to fold it when they finally sit down.
