Top Four Eyeglasses Trends for Kids

Kids Eyeglasses Fashion TrendsFor many children, finding out that they need to get glasses can seem like the end of the world. They may worry that they will be teased or that their friends will think they look weird. Getting a child excited about wearing their glasses can be difficult, but if you can let them choose their own pair that is fun or stylish, then they may be more likely to be thrilled about their new specs. There are lots of fun and trendy eyeglasses for kids, so finding a pair that your child will actually like shouldn’t be too difficult, or expensive. There are also lots of options for cheap glasses, so there should be nothing stopping you from finding cool glasses for your kid.

Bright Colors

Glasses in bright, bold colors are especially fun for young children, but even teenagers who are looking for a sense of funky style have been known to pick out red, pink, or even neon green frames.

Many parents may be hesitant about letting their children wear glasses that are ostentatious, but if you can find a pair of cheap glasses you can purchase an additional pair that is a little bit more toned down.

Patterns and Prints

Gone are the days when frames only came in silver, gold, black, or tortoiseshell. These days there are bold prints and patterns on kids’ eyeglasses that allow children to express their individual sense of style.

Chunky plastic frames with flower prints, zebra stripes, or even polka dots are attention grabbers and can give your child confidence as he or she sports the glasses to school. If you are concerned that patterns on glasses will clash with other patterns worn by your children, just remember that this is one accessory that can stand out and mismatching is alright.

Characters

Most kids have a favorite movie, book, or television show that features animated characters.

Maybe their room is decked out in character bed sheets or posters. A fun pair of glasses that are covered with their favorite character will surely get them in the mood to actually wear their glasses. They will be able to show off their passion for a certain character, while being stylish at the same time. Some frames have small pictures of the characters on the sides, while others feature large characters right on the side of the rim. Whatever style your kid chooses, they are sure to be enthusiastic about their new glasses.

Adult Styles

There are plenty of kids, and especially teenagers, who don’t like to dress in clothing that makes them look young. Bright colors, prints, or characters may be much too embarrassing for these kids, but there are other options for eyeglasses that they can choose.

Many adult styles of frames come in smaller sizes or are even made just for kids. Simple stainless steel rectangle frames are great for boys who don’t want their glasses to be too flashy. A teenage girl would look fetching and stylish in a pair of black, half-rim frames that are currently very trendy with adults right now. Geek chic is all the rage right now as well and many children are choosing the big, thick frames that look very grown up, but are still age appropriate.

Finding the right frame for your child can spell the difference between the glasses actually being worn and helping their vision and your child continuing to squint or not be able to see the blackboard. Let your child pick out their favorite frames, even if you are hesitant about their choices. Remember that it is the child that will be wearing the eyeglasses, not you. If you want them to have a more conservative pair to wear for more formal occasions, consider buying cheap glasses so that you can have multiple options if necessary.
