The perfect skin care routine isn’t a myth ladies – it exists, and we’ve even put together a step by step guide so you can have clear, smooth, glowing skin for now and forever! We’ve included a guide for both the face and body, because you should never neglect either of them in favour of the other. Let’s get started:

For the Face

Step 1: Use a Facial Wash or Cleanser

Always start off by using a facial wash or cleanser on your face, depending on your skin type. You can find many different cleansers, but the important thing to remember is that it matches your skin type for the best results, or you could hinder the way your skin looks. For example, oily skin will require an oil free facial cleanser, while dry skin will want the opposite.

Step 2: Exfoliate the Face Gently

The next step is to gently exfoliate the skin with a facial cleanser to rid your face of dead skin cells making it appear dull. You should do this about twice a week – don’t overdo it. You can even make your own facial cleanser from honey and sugar…yum! Before moving on to the next step, you could apply a face mask – we recommend doing this once a week.

Step 3: Apply a Toner

The toner you use should also match your skin type. Once you’ve rinsed your face thoroughly and dabbed it dry, apply a small amount of toner using a cotton ball.

Step 4: Smooth on Some Moisturiser

Now smooth on a walnut sized amount of your favourite moisturiser – again making sure it suits your skin type.

Step 5: Add Spot creams, Eye Creams, and Wrinkle Creams if You Wish

If you have pesky spots, now’s the time to apply some cream to them. If you have more mature skin, apply your eye creams and wrinkle creams now. You should cleanse, tone, and moisturise in the morning and at night for the best results!

For the Body

Step 1: Use a Body Brush

Using a dry body brush first thing in the morning is great for the skin, as it improves circulation, lymphatic drainage, the appearance of cellulite, and more!

Step 2: Take a Hot Shower or Bath

A hot shower or bath will cleanse your pores and soften your skin ready for the next step.

Step 3: Exfoliate All Over

Use a good body exfoliator – like FRANK. This will get rid of any rough patches, so concentrate on your elbows, knees, and other dry areas. Exfoliating can also improve cellulite, stretch marks, and other skin imperfections. You can then rinse, and use a body wash of your choosing.

Step 4: Dab Yourself Dry and Apply Body Butter

It’s important that you dab yourself dry rather than rub – you don’t want to irritate your skin after exfoliating. Now you can apply your favourite body butter…the Body Shop’s butters smell amazing and make your skin feel so soft! You might also want to use bio-oil at this point.
