Fairy Party Theme – Kids Birthday Party Themes

Invitation Idea Get each guest a wand, add extra decorations to the wand if desired, such as feathers, ribbon and glitter. Attach a rolled scroll to the wand with ribbon. On the scroll put all of the information for the party. Say something like, “(birthday girl) would like to invite you to come have a party with her in fairy land on _______ at _______.”

Decoration Ideas Think pastels, glitter, and flowers. Hang glittering beaded curtains on doorways so that the kids feel like they are entering an enchanted place. If you are having the party indoors be sure to have lots of flowers and potted plants in the party area. Put balloons in groups around the party area. Have bubbles floating around (great job for an older sibling). Hang white icicle Christmas lights. If you are having the party outdoors pick a garden spot, sprinkle glitter on the flowers and leaves and hang lights in trees.

Craft Ideas Have each guest make a fairy ring. Get a wooden hoop for each child. Show them how to put glue on the hoop and roll it in glitter. When the glue is dry have them tie ribbons all around the hoop except for one spot where they will hold it. Now each guest can have fun watching their fairy ring ribbons dance in the wind. It may be a fun idea to turn on some music and let the guests dance with them.

Another idea is to dress each girl up and make her an honorary fairy. Provide string and beads and let them make necklaces and ribbon. Let them decorate tiaras. Have a couple of adults paint their fingernails in sparkly colors and put roll on glitter on their cheeks and eyelids.

Game Ideas Send the group on a scavenger hunt to find “shy” fairies in the yard or party area. You can make small fairies out of clothespins and chenille stems, or you can buy a few small fairy toys to hide in the party area. Take pictures of each fairy before the party and have them developed. Divide the children into groups, give each group a picture so they know which fairy they are trying to find, then let them go and find it.

Food Ideas Serve pink lemonade, small pink pudding filled pies, fruit wands (fruit kebabs), and small cookies sprinkled with “fairy dust” white sugar crystals.
