Prenuptial Agreements

This can be a very touchy subject relating to marriage mostly because some people think that because someone asks you to sign one, they must think that the marriage is doomed to fail before it has even started.

Basically a prenuptial agreement is a written contract between two people that set the terms of assets, future earnings, property and potential division of everything including children if the marriage is later dissolved. It’s definitely not one of the most romantic things, especially since your wedding vows state that you will be together and committed to each other FOREVER.

However, concerning reality in this day and age, nearly fifty percent of marriages end in divorce and if this is your second time around, then you already know how valuable something like a prenuptial agreement can be. If a marriage is dissolved and things can not be agreed upon between the people involved, then the decision of who gets what gets left up to the state. And really, who wants that?
