The fall is the best time to head out to the movies. Not only does it start to get colder and damper out, but as we inch towards Christmas Day, films that wish to be considered for the Academy Awards start to get rolled out in front of audiences.

There are a huge number of films that are prepping themselves for Oscar greatness this year, and leading these films are some talented, witty, and stunning leading ladies. From FatalDose, here are five of the best who have films out this fall.

Lily Collins

As the leading lady in Mortal Instruments, 24-year-old stunner Lily Collins shines. She plays Clary Fray, a girl has to deal with two things: finding out that her mother has disappeared in mysterious circumstances, and learning that she is the latest in a long line of warriors who protect the known world from demons. She dons a lot of leather and begins to fight the demons in a dangerous world called Downworld, an alternate New York City.

Olivia Wilde

You may recognize Olivia Wilde from her roles in Tron and the hit TV show House, but in Drinking Buddies, a fun-loving romantic comedy, she’s every man’s dream girl—she runs a brewery! In the movie, Olivia plays Kate, who has a magnetic attraction to her co-worker Luke. Trouble is, both are in relationships. Sooner or later, the pair sets about brewing two things: beer and trouble.

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba stole the hearts of many in the film Sin City, and many have kept an eye on her work since. Fans of Jessica will be delighted to know that she is reprising her role as Sartana, made famous in the 2010 smash hit Machete, when Machete Kills hits screens this fall. Jessica has competition in the lady department, however—she is performing alongside Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, and even Lady Gaga. Lovers of the b-grade cheese leading man that Danny Trejo is so perfect at performing will love the return of Machete and his bevy of babes to the screen.

Jennifer Lawrence

You’ve seen her as a warrior in The Hunger Games and as a quirky dancer in Silver Linings Playbook, but in American Hustle, it’s a Jennifer Lawrence you’ve never seen before. Playing a Long Island housewife who is quickly running off the rails, Jennifer will capture your heart in this insane role. The 1970s costumes won’t be half bad either. Check Jennifer out alongside the absolutely inimitable Christian Bale and the ever-handsome Bradley Cooper, who play a con artist and partner-in-crime who work with a federal agent to bust the mayor of New Jersey.

Michelle Pfeiffer

That’s right, folks, Michelle Pfeiffer is back and she is blonder and more beautiful than ever. Anyone who grew up on the 1990s Batman films will remember her as Catwoman. While she looks a little different in the 2013 flick ‘My Family’, Pfeiffer still smolders as the wife of a mob boss who has forced his family into witness protection after snitching on his buddies in the mafia. Watch as Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro show how well they adjust to small town life in witness protection. Hint: not well at all.
