5 Awesome Family Films You Should Watch With Your Kids This Year

Every year, there are a number of amazing family films released that everyone starts talking about. As deciding to spend your Sunday afternoons in front of the TV with all the special people in your life can be an exceptionally rewarding experience, I thought today would be a good time to write and release a post detailing some of the most impressive movies available for your viewing pleasure during 2014.

Of course, you may be able to download some, purchase DVDs or blu-rays of others, or even subscribe to custom home entertainment packages. So, how you decide to source these movies will depend upon your own personal preferences, but one thing is for certain, both the adults, and the children in your family will love them.

I’ve been a film buff for a number of years, so I actually saw all the movies listed in this post at the cinema. While the big screen can make certain productions seem more appealing, I’m pretty confident those mentioned here were amazing because of good storylines, rather than special effects. With that in mind, spend the next few moments checking out the titles underneath this paragraph, and see if any seem interesting to you.

1 – Muppets Most Wanted

Yes, that’s right folks; those crazy animal puppets are at it again, only this time, they’re headed out on a global tour. After selling out most of Europe’s most respected venues and concert halls, in true Muppet style, the team become entangled with a criminal gang who really don’t have their best interests at heart.

2 – RIO 2

From the makers of Ice Age comes the sequel to their endlessly well received kids movie RIO. All the same old character are back for another round of fun and frolics in the magical city. This time, however, the entire cast is banished and forced to make a life for themselves in the wild. Unfortunately, the Amazon jungle is a rather dangerous and unpredictable place, even for the locals who are incredibly curious to learn about the origins of their new neighbours.

3 – Mr Peabody & Sherman

Me Peabody could well be the most intelligent dog ever to walk on this small planet of ours, and his young human friend Sherman might be one of the naughtiest and mischievous characters to make it into a family film for a long time. Throw a time machine into the mix capable of ripping a hole in the solar system, and you know for certain this film will have you gripped from start to finish.

4 – Night At The Museum 3

Ben Stiller fans will be happy to know the Night At The Museum trilogy is now complete. This latest film is set in the Smithsonian museum like all the others, except by now, Larry the security guard is more than experienced in dealing with the residents hilariously funny after-hours shenanigans. In the first film, he met the historical characters. In the second, he helped them, but this time, it could be up to them to assist him.

5 – The Monkey King

Not many people who write lists like this tend to include foreign films, maybe because they think some people have trouble reading subtitles. However, I give you much more credit than that, and so I advise you wholeheartedly to check out this Hong Kong-Chinese fantasy movie. Personally, it made more of an impression on me than any other title listed. Give it a try.

Well guys, I’m off now because I need to watch a few more films for a similar article I’ll be posting at some point in the future. Just remember to get the dinner done early next Sunday, and maybe you’ll be able to fit a couple of movies in.

Enjoy!
