Buying a Stroller for Your Baby

Your newborn is too young for a $20 umbrella stroller; he’ll need one where he can lie down. Consider the following:

a) Do you want a travel system? Take a look at some.

b) Is it easy to fold? This is particularly important if you’ll be using public transportation, holding the baby in one hand and folding the stroller with the other.

c) Is it lightweight?

d) Is the basket underneath big enough for both your winter coats and some packages?

e) Do you want one with a cup holder for you? Or do you want to purchase a plastic cup holder that snaps on?

f) Will it fit into the trunk of your car? Will there be any room left for your other packages?

g) Will the fabric hide stains?

h) Is it easy to push? (Think windy, rainy day) Can you get it up a step or two?

i) Can you steer with one hand? (Think of opening a store door, holding the door and pushing the stroller.)

j) Press down on the handlebars: will this model tip if you put a heavy package there, or is it fairly steady?
