> Dear Francis
I’ve always wanted to be a stripper … but how do I tell my
husband?
Problem: When I was in high school and college
I had a couple of friends who were strippers; I loved they way
they moved and danced. Ever since then I have really wanted to be
a stripper. I didn’t have the body for it then, but now after four
kids, a tummy tuck, and a boob job, I am ready to hit the poll
twirling. How do I tell my husband about my desire?
If you are serious about this, there are a couple of things you
need to decide before bringing it up with your husband. Firstly,
decide if following your dream is worth a divorce and a battle for
the children. Would you also want to tell your kids? If they are
at an age were they would notice a change, what exactly are you
going to tell them? Are you going to tell your friends and/or your
husband’s friends? This could be a deciding factor for your
husband if he doesn’t want anyone to know.
If your husband is genuinely against you stripping then you
need to come up with a serious and legitimate reason to justify
you pursuing this; it cannot just be because “you want to” - there
needs to be a reason for him to benefit. An example would be
promising to put your ‘stripping money’ into a 529 college savings
plan for your children, which gives your career change a much
needed credibility boost.
My last bit of advice would be to set the rules before you
start stripping - can he watch you strip or not? If he is very
possessive then I would advise you from allowing him to watch you
strip.
