English Garden Theme Wedding
If you're preparing for a spring wedding, why not select a fun
theme that reflects the beauty of the season? An English garden
theme wedding is the perfect way to incorporate the flowers and
colors of spring into your special day. Check out the following
ideas for a fun and festive wedding celebration filled with blooms
and blossoms:
Location
Outdoors, of course! You may want to refer to an almanac when
choosing a rain-free wedding date. Because you may not be able to
accurately predict whether or not it will rain on your wedding day,
have a backup plan such as a covered area or alternate indoor
location available just in case. Great outdoor locations for spring
weddings include parks and spacious backyards.
Invitations
Your invitations should feature flowers to coordinate with the
English garden theme. Send them out a few months before the big day
and always ask for an RSVP. Be sure to specify to guests whether
the wedding will be held indoors or outdoors. You may also want to
specify the preferred dress code for your guests.
Decorations
For an English garden theme wedding, the most important decorations
are the flowers. English gardens contain a variety of different
flowers grouped together in an explosion of color and fragrance.
You'll want some main colors reflected in your floral arrangements
that match your wedding colors, accented with complementary and
contrasting shades. Appropriate wedding colors for spring include
anything nature inspired. Soft shades of rose, yellow, green, blue
and lavender are examples of ideal spring wedding colors.
In addition to as many flowers as you can handle, decorate your
table with traditional English tea pots, cups and saucers. These
items make for practical yet beautiful decorations, as they can be
used by your guests. Other decorative ideas include colorful
streamers and balloons in coordinating wedding colors for a
traditional and festive look.
Attire
When selecting your wedding dress, think traditional and romantic
yet light. You don't want anything too heavy or intricate for an
outdoor spring wedding. Frothy tulle, short sleeves and simple
lines are perfect for an English garden theme wedding. Add classic
flair to your bridal ensemble with delicate pearl jewelry and
flowers woven into your hair.
Menu
Spring favorites like baked ham, glazed carrots and green salad are
all good choices for your reception menu. Serve pastel sherbet
punch for the kids and pink champagne for the adults. Your wedding
cake will look beautiful adorned with edible flowers or fake ones
crafted from colored icing. Another fresh idea is to forgo a
traditional cake for one crafted from cupcakes. Each cupcake can
feature its own colorful frosting bloom. Arrange the cupcakes on a
tiered holder in the shape of a wedding cake.
Favors
Seed packets inserted into a miniature buckets or watering cans
make ideal favors for your guests. Miniature birdhouses and
tulle-wrapped bundles of birdseed are also a fun idea. Throwing
birdseed is a bird-friendly alternative to the old tradition of
throwing rice at the departing couple. You could even give your
guests miniature bottles of soap bubbles to blow as you leave.
