Timeless Interior Trends

Whenever we consider decorating our homes we aim to follow what’s fashionable. We are bombarded with the latest trends: The new looks we need to create within our own environments. But there are a number of timeless classics that never go out of style. Whether you shop at the Divan Beds Centre or B&Q you will be able to put your own spin on interior looks.

functional storage furniture

Storage and functional furnishings aren’t necessarily specific to one trend; they are incorporated within so many looks. A cabinet, a wardrobe, an ottoman all serve to keep clutter at bay. No one wants to litter spaces with knick-knacks, instead lock them away for a cleaner living look. Clever storage can pull together different design ideals. Minimalism and Feng Shui are huge (you can find these looks in the most style-conscious homes) although neither look can really work without decent storage.

Adding a touch of warmth to a home makes it an inviting space. We aren’t talking literally; it is based on an idea and a feeling. The ideal ambience in a home comes from warmth. Who wants to spend time in a cold, stark home? No one. Using deep colours such as reds, browns, caramels and plums work great. Combining them with different fabrics and materials, adds to the effect. Whilst carefully positioning furniture creates a cosy space to finish the look.

Minimalism is massive. It has been a key trend for years and shows no sign of losing favour. This incorporates the idea of storage and functional furnishings. Less is definitely more and the idea of proportions and clean lines are essential. Think about sense of space and fluidity within the home.

A Minimalist Bedroom

Spaces have to be clear and there simply is no room for clutter (not if you want to fully embrace the look.) Bold furniture pieces and fresh colour palettes are the heart of minimalism. Black and white is the most commonly featured colours.

Nature is a natural take on interior design. You can use the things around you to create a relaxed and welcoming environment. Bringing outdoor elements inside supports the idea of open living. You are including areas in and around the home to increase space. Nature offers its own colour palette. This can depend on the seasons you prefer. Whether it is the reds and browns of autumn or the cool blues and greens of winter. Natural light is the best tool in interior design.

Whatever your style preferences, you are able to design spaces suitable to you. You don’t have to be led by fashion and trends to create a home brimming with style and ambience.
