Cornucopia Centerpiece

Cornucopias are a well-known symbol of the Thanksgiving season. Dress up your cornucopia to create a stunning centerpiece.

What you will Need:

1. Cornucopia
2. Fake leaves with stems, or attached to picks
3. Sphere-shaped Styrofoam
4. Gold/orange wired ribbon about a half inch wide, and a yard long
5. Fake berries
6. Fake pears, apples or pumpkins
7. Needles
8. Scissors or knife

Directions:

1. Cut the Styrofoam so that it will fit inside the cornucopia. This is what will keep your floral arrangement in place. The best way to do this is to get a sphere of Styrofoam that is the right size to fit in the opening of the cornucopia. To make it fit, cut it in half and push it into the cornucopia.

2. Insert leaves around the edge of the cornucopia so that it creates a ring. It is okay to let some of the leaves overlap.

3. Tie the ribbon into a pretty bow.

4. Attach the ribbon in the lower center part of the cornucopia with a needle.

5. Make the tails of the ribbon look waved by using your finger to bend the wire slightly.

6. Insert a bunch of berries below the ribbon on either side.

7. The fake fruit should be put in next. Make sure that you use only three. Put one exactly above the center of the bow, and then the other two above it.

8. Fill in any gaps with the remaining fake leaves.

Feel free to get creative when you are trying to decide how to decorate your cornucopia. There aren’t really any rules, and you don’t have to have any type of food at all. If a bunch of nice orange mums match your décor better feel free to add them in. Another variation is to make the inside of the cornucopia more like a wreath and hang a special thanksgiving item in the middle. To do this, you will need to get wreath-shaped Styrofoam that fits in your cornucopia.
