Create A Stylish Area For Relaxation In Your Garden

There is a real sense of beat the Jones’ in suburban garden designs these days. Neighbours vie to create the best environment they can and outdo the others in their street. It can be a costly project if you are unable to do the work yourself, but it is money well spent, in my opinion. When you visit people’s homes these days, have you noticed how they direct you to their garden instead of inviting you into the living room? That is because they want to show off. It doesn’t matter that the temperature is close to zero, or the sun might be at its zenith and blistering hot. The garden is there to enjoy whatever the environmental conditions, in their eyes.

You can include features in your garden that will make it  a relaxing and comfortable place to be. Maybe you will become the perfect host and only take advantage of them when the conditions are right.

Here is how to create a stylish area for relaxation and impress your friends.

Introduce A Gazebo

Introduce a gazebo into your design. These buildings are desirable garden features that serve several purposes. They afford you a place to get out of the hot sun and into the shade, and they will also help you out in a rain shower. You could use a Softwoods gazebo or build one yourself. It can be as plain or as ornate as you wish; sometimes less is more in garden design. Style is often only one step away from cheap and tacky, in my experience. Quality speaks for itself, so if you can’t construct one to a high-standard, leave it to the experts.

Find A Suntrap

You don’t have to locate a patio next to your house. If another part of the garden gets a lot of sun during the day, build one there instead. I am a big fan of wooden or composite decking. Stone and concrete can seem hard and cold, whereas timber has a natural warmth and feel.

You will provide a table and comfortable chairs in your seating area, but remember to include some sun loungers too. Rattan style furniture is available in almost every design you can think of, and it is in fashion at the moment.

A Touch Of Class

If you want to spend more time in your garden all year round, consider a stylish jacuzzi that will provide a warm place for you to relax whatever the weather. Yes, your garden might look like the cooling tower of a power station thanks to the steam you create in sub-zero temperatures, but that is a small price to pay.

Play Natural Sounds

You can buy natural relaxing sounds on disc these days and thanks to outdoor speakers, play them in your garden. When you close your eyes and listen to the sound of a babbling brook or a tropical rainforest, you could be anywhere in the world.

Use smart lighting techniques in your garden for the evenings. If you install spotlights to illuminate the underside of the plants and trees, the garden takes on an alien appearance. Lighting is a fantastic tool to change the ambiance of the space with the flick of a switch.

I hope you can achieve a state of Zen in your garden. They reckon if we can shed all the stresses of our daily lives we live longer. I think that is a compelling argument.
