As darker nights draw in, you may get less use out of your garden, but that doesn’t mean it should look neglected. Garden lights can turn a dull garden into a cosy, inviting area at speed and a few large lanterns are all you need. If you have garden steps, position one on each side of every step to create a welcoming walkway. Alternatively, wrap fairly lights around tree branches or invest in a curtain of twinkling fairy lights and hang them along your garden fences to create a cosy glow.

A Beautiful Garden Building

As the temperatures drop, you tend to use your garden less and less during autumn and winter. A garden building like the ones from Shackletons Lifestyle is a practical investment as it can allow you to enjoy your outdoor space come rain or shine. You can use your garden building for a variety of purposes, whether you want to relax with a good book or create a cosy place to work in the winter months.

There are some fabulous designs online if you need inspiration, but the owl pumpkins are sure to make an impact.

You may not spend an awful lot of time in your garden over the autumn season but this doesn’t mean that your outdoor space won’t be a hub for all kinds of wildlife. Putting out a birdfeeder doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune; you can save your pennies and make one. This is a great DIY project that anyone can attempt and it will look lovely in your garden. If you choose to decorate your garden with pumpkins, you could turn one of these into a bird feeder at speed. Simply cut a pumpkin in half and dig a well in the bottom for the seeds. Connect the top and bottom half of the pumpkin using four sticks and harness the two halves together using string. Tie the string in a knot to secure it and hang it from a tree branch.

So, there you have it, four simple ways to spruce up your outdoor space for the season ahead.
