How to Iron Shirts
Clothes Ironing Tutorial

It’s easy and quick to iron a shirt perfectly, if you know the steps.

1. Begin with the collar unfolded. Smooth the collar and iron on the front and back by passing the warm iron firmly and slowly over the area.

2. Next, iron the neckband inside and out.

3. Gentle tension on the seams will help you get the shirt as flat and crisp as possible.

4. Now, Slide the collar over the triangular end of the board to iron the shoulder section, repeat for the other side.

5. Place one sleeve on the ironing board and flatten it by hand to remove the large folds.  If you match the front and back seams of the armhole, the sleeve will lie flat.  Pass the iron over the area until the wrinkles are gone.

6. Repeat the process on the other sleeve.

7. Open the shirt and align one of the side seams with the edge of the ironing board.  Iron until smooth.

8. Slide the ironed section over the board and repeat the process until the back is flat.  The triangular end of the ironing board makes it east to slide the back armhole seams onto the board.

9. Flip the shirt, placing one of the front sections onto the board, iron.  Pay special attention to the button placket.   Repeat on the other front side of the shirt.

Now you’re ready to wear a perfectly pressed shirt.
