This design is based on a Nageire style
of Ikebana.
I am no expert on Ikebana, although I
appreciate the beauty and simplicity of it very much. That
is why I describe this design as "Nageire-style".
It uses a tall pottery container of a neutral colour, with a
double rim of pale pink.
To hold the plant material in place,
kubari, or Y shaped sticks have been wedged inside the
container.
I have used some curving stems of Acer
palmatum 'Senkaki' which has lovely red bark, and five pale
pink standard Carnations pick up the colour in the rim of
the container.
Two clipped Fatsia japonica leaves add
balance at the base of the design.
The flowers were from the Florist, and
the Acer and Fatsia japonica were from the garden. |
