Decorate the Bedroom to Grow with Your Child

Kids grow up fast, which is a good reason to decorate your child’s room so it can easily grow with him or her.

Here are some simple tips:

1. Use a reversible comforter. If you can find one with print or characters on one side and solid color on the other, you can simply turn it over when your child outgrows the character.

2. Can’t find a reversible comforter? Make one, using flat sheets. It’s really quite simple. You only have to sew straight lines or use iron-on seam tape. It’s like making a giant pillowcase to put the comforter in.

3. Find a reversible rug. While reversible rugs are more readily available in solids, turning it over to use the other color will make an impact when you make you decide to give the room a more grown up feel.

4. Choose a chest or perhaps shelves that hold attractive baskets instead of a typical toy box. As your child grows and toys are less important, these storage options can be used to stash sporting gear or other big kid items. You can paint them in fun colors while your child is small and then change it to something funky or something more subdued as your child gets older, depending on his or her taste.
