Creative Ideas for Curtain Tops

A simple hem may work for attaching the curtain to a curtain rod but other decorating options may add that extra little bit needed to make the curtains a part of the overall décor.

• Use a tab top to slip the curtains on the curtain rod. Embellish the tabs with a large button, bow, or other small item such as a seashell, or silk flower that goes along with your décor.

• Valences can hide curtain hardware, and pull up blinds.

• A simple valence can be dressed up by adding an appliqué or if it is in a child's bedroom, by sewing on the child's name.

• Wrap a flower garland, fun ribbon, or other similar item around a curtain rod and hang it above the curtains for an interesting look.

• Hang a long shelf above the curtains and put fun knickknacks, dishes or other items on the shelf.
