Choosing Bedroom Flooring
The bedroom floor no longer has to be a plain ordinary carpet.
With a little bit of imagination you can transform an ordinary
boring floor into a work of art. Here we give you some useful tips
on choosing flooring for your bedroom and some great ideas on what
you can do with your floors.
My personal favourite for a bedroom (any room in fact) is
laminate flooring. It is practical, clean, isn't too hard to lay,
lasts for years and isn't that expensive. With laminate flooring
you can change the colour of your walls as many times as you like
without having to buy a new carpet to match. All good DIY stores
sell laminate flooring. Checkout Home Base they have a wide range
to choose from
Carpets come in all different colours, patterns, styles and
materials. With so many carpets to choose from you can't fail to
find the right carpet for your needs. As I don`t know very much
about carpets I have looked around to bring you the best there is
in the UK at the styles, carpet types and prices to suit everyone.
Delta carpets, Carpets direct, Allied carpets.
Carpet tiles are another good choice though often a little
expensive but they do last for a long time. You don't get the same
amount of choice as you do with carpets but you can get many
patterns and most colours and they are very hardwearing which means
that they often last a lot longer then most carpets. Home Base has
a good selection to choose from.
You can change the way a room looks with just one rug/mat. The
beauty of rugs/mats is that they come in that many different
shapes, sizes, colours, patterns and styles that you can change a
usually plain room into a master piece. The next time you shop for
a rug think of it as a work of art, after all when you are buying
pictures you are wanting to look at them, you want them to be a
feature for a room. You should do the same when buying a rug. The
mat pictured above is a Sisal look mat. It is clean, stylish would
go well in a rich coloured room to soften it and the best bit is
that it is only £ 21.00 from Freemans.
The best trick of all is to pull up your carpet and turn your
floor boards into a work of art. My friend did this with her dining
room and it looked stunning. She sanded the floor boards until they
looked brand new, drew a design on them (a large yellow sun in the
middle of the floor and a diamond border all the way round the
walls) she then painted it and varnished over the top of them. 2
years on and it still looks fabulous. This is the best way to get
the exact design that you would like and there are many paints,
stains (if you don't want to paint it) and varnish. This is a very
inexpensive way to change the look of your floor but it does take a
bit of time, but the end result will definitely be worth it. Try
Home Base for wood pints, varnishes and all the tools you will
need.
