Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Your bedroom should be a haven where you can escape from the pressures of the outside world. Many people neglect their bedrooms and by doing this, they're not getting the full benefit of a pleasing space to call their own. Here are some tips to help you make your bedroom the very best it can be:

Use your space wisely. First, figure out where you'd like the bed to go. If you're part of a couple, place a nightstand or table on each side of the bed with a small reading lamp. This ensures that each person has their own space and their own light source. At the foot of the bed is the perfect place for a chest or trunk in which you can store things like extra blankets and winter clothes.

For a romantic atmosphere, try warm colors like shades of pink, peach and burgundy. Soft neutral tones with a warm cast, like gold and caramel, can go a long way towards a soft, pleasing look. Add some interest to the walls with your favorite pieces of art that reflect the colors you've chosen for your bedding.

Want a luxurious way to get out of bed each morning? Place a fluffy flokati area rug on either side of the bed. You'll love placing your feet on it every morning, plus it looks great!

Try to incorporate the elements into your bedroom for a good balance. This means earth, water, fire and air. Wood furniture is perfect for the earth aspect, while a battery powered desk fountain or a small fish tank can easily provide the element of water. For fire and air, try scented candles or a stick of your favorite incense. Green houseplants are also great ways to incorporate both the earth and air element into your bedroom.

Make sure your bedroom also has a full-length mirror so you can dress properly. A seating area is also good if you've got room. Add a bookshelf and you've got your own little reading area!

An important aspect of decorating any bedroom that you share is getting your partner's input. It's important that both people feel comfortable with the bedroom that they co-inhabit. Also, make sure you maintain a balance between feminine and masculine when choosing the decor. Balance is important in every aspect of our lives -- our bedroom is no exception!
