4 Simple Bathroom Improvements that won’t Break the Bank

Boredom is an emotion hardwired into the human psyche; even the most exciting and enthralling of things will one day succumb to the constant human desire for change. This is no truer than with interior design, in which homes are frequently subjected to constant tinkering, hammering and drilling.

4 Simple Bathroom Improvements that won’t Break the Bank

Unfortunately, this constant desire for change in our homes can be extremely costly. Bathroom remodelling, for example, requires extensive plumbing and electrical work and can end up racking up bills in the tens of thousands of dollar, pounds or whatever else your country’s chosen currency may be.

That doesn’t mean that you can’t fulfil your desire for change, however; quite the opposite in fact. Focusing on the bathroom, here are four quick, easy and cheap changes that’ll revitalise your bathroom and keep your bank manager smiling.

Hang a new shower curtain

Ah, the shower curtain, that most humble of bathroom accessories. For what is essentially a piece of plastic hanging off a rail, it’s amazing how much effect a shower curtain can have on the appearance of your home.

Picking a new shower curtain for your bathroom is easy; just make sure that it fits in with the colour scheme for the rest of your bathroom if you want a nice, complementary bathroom. Alternatively, go all out and buy a leopard print number if you want to make an eye-catching statement!

Buy a new mirror or cabinet

The mirror is one of the more overlooked aspects of a bathroom, with a lot of people content with the mirror solely serving a practical purpose. However, your mirror is a great chance to add a bit of character to your bathroom.

Whether it’s an opulent vintage mirror to add a bit of grandeur to your bathroom or LED mirrors to add a futuristic edge, changing your bathroom mirror is one of the easiest yet most effective design changes you can make.

Add a new lick of paint or tiling

One of the simplest design changes you can carry out in any room is a spot of painting. While the time involved might be a little longer than other tasks in this post (about 2 or 3 days), the results are well worth it, offering a transformational change.

Just remember that you’ll need to use water-resistant paint. It’s also a good idea to stick to one of the established ‘bathroom’ colour tones; whites, creams and blues are all reliable yet effective colour schemes to opt for.

If you’ve got a bit more money and time on your hands, adding bathroom tiles is a great way to cover bits of wall that are looking a bit tired. By mixing and matching tiles, you can easily create a focal point for your bathroom too.

Switch up your vanity tops

Weirdly enough, vanity tops are one of the easiest changes you can make to your bathroom, despite the work involved. Buying a pre-fab vanity top won’t set you back too much money-wise and there is a vast range of different styles on offer. Just make sure that you properly measure your current tops before you buy a new one to avoid any inconvenience!

There are, of course, many other small changes you can make in your bathroom that’ll make a big difference appearance-wise. Feel free to share your own in the comments below.
