3 Ways to Create the Perfect Home Office

Working at home gives you the freedom to split your time better between your work and your kids, but another benefit is that you can design the perfect home office space without having to go through the office bureaucracy first.  If you’re stuck for ideas, we’ve collected these 3 creative ideas from around the web to get you started.

Space-Saving Style

You don’t need to be limited by your small office space. Store your clutter away in storage boxes which fit under your desk, or you could purchase a tall column storage unit which takes up very little space but can store a lot of clutter.  Install wireless internet to minimise wires, and buy a power brick cradle which can attach to the underside of your desk to carry your power bricks, preventing them from messing your walkways up, allowing for easy-access and quicker cleaning.

Ornate Elegance

Have you ever wanted to work in a more traditional, ornate-looking environment? Now you’re at home, you can.  Strip the floor of carpet and sand and stain your wood floorboards for a rustic flooring.  Then, purchase a sturdy wooden desk like the ones available from Trade Furniture Company; these will fit in with your elegant aesthetic but will also be able to take the weight of a modern computer and printer.

You could also create some Mason jar lights which will add to the atmosphere and give the room some modern character.  To prevent the room from getting chilly, scatter patterned rugs on the floor which will insulate the room and give it splashes of colour, and this can be enhanced with small piles of books placed in strategic locations.

Minimal Design

The opposite of the previous idea is the minimal design aesthetic.  Create this by stripping the room of any unnecessary clutter, painting the walls white, laying a wood or slate floor, and purchasing glass or metal furniture.  This option is perfect if you’re trying to create a light space, as the shiny materials will reflect any natural light coming in through the windows.  Another advantage to this style is that white paint is the least expensive to purchase, so you won’t spend a fortune on expensive colours.

Working from home is a blessing if you can create the perfect environment, and with the above 3 ideas, there’s sure to be one which is suitable for you. Now you can enjoy creating your perfect home office.
