St. Patrick's Day Snacks for Kids' School
Make St. Patrick’s Day Extra Special at Your Kid’s School!

St. Patrick’s Day is a very fun holiday. Many classrooms across the country have parties or activities to celebrate the special day and of course, every child can be seen wearing green. On this special day, moms often want to tuck a special little snack into their child’s backpack. But what can you send that will be extra special and commemorate the holiday? Below are some special snacks that your child can take to school to help celebrate St. Patrick’s with his classmates.

Lucky Clover Snacks

One super easy and delicious snack that you can send your child to school with are Lucky Clover Snacks. To make, cut up some celery slices and cucumber wedges. Add some green food colouring to cream cheese to make a fun dip. Then simply arrange the vegetables on a large platter and place the dip in a small bowl in the middle of the platter to make it resemble a four-leaf clover.

Irish Apples

Pair this great veggie snack with an equally wonderful fruit snack. To make Irish Apples, cut some Granny Smith apples into wedges. Then mix equal parts cream cheese and mallow cream and add food colouring to them. The kids will all love dipping their apple wedges into this delicious dip!

Zucchini Oatmeal Cookies

If you want to send your child to school with something a little more sugary, you can make Zucchini Oatmeal cookies. The zucchini and oatmeal keep these cookies a little healthier than other varieties and you don’t even need to add food colouring – they will be green when you cook them because of the zucchini. This is what you will need:

• ½ cup butter
• ¾ cup white sugar
• 1 egg
• ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 ½ cups grated zucchini
• 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
• ½ teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 cup quick-cooking oats
• 1 cup granola
• 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1.) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2.) Cream together the butter and sugar in a medium bowl until they are fluffy. Add the egg and the vanilla and mix until it is fully blended and then stir in the shredded zucchini. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon. Stir the dry ingredients into the zucchini mixture. Then add the oats, the granola, and the chocolate chips.
3.) Drop teaspoonfuls of the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving approximately two inches between cookie drops. Bake in the preheated oven for ten to twelve minutes.

Lucky Pretzels

For another fun treat, make Lucky pretzels. These are another snack that are extremely easy and you’re kids will love them! Here is what you will need:

• Prepared bread stick dough (you can find this in the refrigerated section in the grocery store)
• Sugar
• Cinnamon
• Green food colouring

1.) Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.
2.) Shape three dough sticks into cloverleaves.
3.) Make a stem with half of another stick.
4.) Place the shamrocks onto the cookie sheet.
5.) In a small bowl, colour the sugar with green food colouring.
6.) Sprinkle the shamrocks with cinnamon and sugar.
7.) Bake for the time specified on the package.
