Teddy Bear Picnic Themed Baby Shower Idea

Teddy Bear CakeThis baby shower is perfect for the Mom-to-be that has a lot of guests to invite and maybe isn’t too thrilled about playing the games usually found in a traditional baby shower.

Invitations:

Find cute teddy bear scrapbooking paper, and put the teddy bear picnic rhyme on at the top center then the information for the shower underneath it. The teddy bear picnic rhyme goes like this,

If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise. If you go down to the woods today, you’d better go in disguise. For ev’ry bear that ever there was will gather there for certain, because today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic.”

On the invitations ask each guest to cover one of the “bare” essential needs for baby. So for example on one invitation you could say, “Please bring a “bare” essential for feeding baby.” Other categories could include: dressing baby, bathing baby, playing with baby, diapering baby and so on. Divide the different categories equally among the guests so that mom gets something from each one.

Decorations:

Hold the shower in a large backyard or at a local park. Spread blankets on the ground for guests. Set up a food table and get cute teddy bear cloth to use as a tablecloth. Ask family and friends to let you borrow teddy bears for the party and decorate with them. Place at least one bear in the center of each blanket, tie balloons to their paws for a cute and colorful decoration.

Food:

Teddy Bear Cake

No teddy bear picnic would be complete without cake, and this cake will be a great decoration on the food table as well. Click here for instructions.

Activities:

The food and Mom-to-be opening presents will be the main activities for this baby shower. If you are afraid the cost of providing picnic food for everyone will be too much you can ask guests to bring different types of dishes like salads and desserts. One activity that will be fun is to get a few picnic related prizes or cute teddy bears and hold a raffle. As guests arrive give them half of a ticket that has a number on it. Then put the other half in a bowl. Throughout the picnic draw numbers and announce them. That person wins one of the prizes.
