Superman Party Theme

With the new Superman Returns film in theaters, Superman is becoming a popular birthday party theme for boys aged 4 to 10 or so. Does your little superhero want a Superman themed birthday party? If so, there are lots of great ways you can bring this theme to life and throw a great party!

Invitations

Send out invitations at least one month in advance and request all invitees RSVP by phone or email. Knowing how many kids will be attending makes planning the activities and food so much easier! Go to a local party planning shop, or hop online for a variety of cool invitations featuring Superman. On the invitations, write the purpose of the party, the location, date, time, and a way to reach you for the RSVP.

Decorations

Try balloons in blue and red, Superman's colors. You can find some Mylar balloons that feature Superman. At your local party supply store or online, you can purchase all things Superman like plates, cups, tablecloths, and more!

Party Favors

For party favors, prepare goodie bags filled with small items like wrapped candies, miniature bottles of blowing bubbles, and Superman themed favors like whistles and plastic rings. You should be able to find themed favors at the same place you purchase your decorations.

Food

What birthday party would be complete without great food? For the main course, try something kids love such as miniature corn dogs, pizza, or tacos. Have your local bakery prepare a Superman themed cake, or make one yourself! Ice cream is always a good complement to cake. Serve caffeine free soda, juice, bottled water, or Kool-Aid as a beverage. Or make a cool blue or red punch to fit the decor!

Activities and Games

One great idea is to rent a Superman movie or take all party attendees to the cinema. If you don't feel comfortable taking a troupe of kids to the theater, try a Superman themed game. One cool idea is to set up a safe yet fun obstacle course and call it a Superhero Training Course! Or, play a variation on Capture the Flag where one team is Superman's team and one team is Lex Luthor's!

After the Party

Have your child fill out Superman-themed thank-you cards to send to all the party attendees. Sending thank you cards teaches your child manners and responsibility, and will certainly bring a smile to the faces of the people receiving them!
