Low Calorie Easter: From the Treats to the Brunch
Holidays often mean rich food and lots of it! Easter is no
exception with big family brunches, dinners, and of course, those
Easter baskets that are filled with sugar and calories! But you can
still celebrate this special time with family without adding to
your waistline. Choosing a healthier holiday is easy and will truly
make you feel better about yourself and make you better able to
enjoy the holiday. If you’re having a large Easter meal such as a
brunch, and you’re not quite sure of everyone’s dietary needs, you
may want to choose a low-cal meal anyways to make sure that
everyone will be able to enjoy all of the wonderful food! Below are
instructions for a complete, low-cal Easter brunch!
Herbed Yogurt Cheese
Not only does this dish have only 20 calories per tablespoon, it
will provide your guests with something truly different from the
ordinary Easter fare.
Easter Sausage Strata
Sausage, cheese, and bread might not sound low-cal but this main
course will give your guests satisfaction knowing they are only
eating 250 calories per serving. It’s healthy, it’s delicious and
it’s very filling!
Three Bean Salad
Not only are beans extremely low-cal, they also have many other
health benefits, including a lot of fiber. One serving of this
salad is approximately thirty calories. And the bonus is, it’s very
easy to make!
And the Dessert!
Serve a dessert such as carrot cake or cranberry tarts for a
completely low-cal Easter brunch and carry on the low-cal theme
with the kid’s Easter baskets! Instead of piling it high with
sugar, fill it with sugar-free candy and fresh fruit! Not only is
it healthier for your child, it’s better for their teeth too!
