‘Berry’ Fruity Layered Dessert in a Cup

Berries, fruits, cream and cake – what could possibly go wrong with a dessert made using these ingredients! Use leftover cake and whatever fruits you have at hand, to quickly make this no-bake dessert and serve chilled during summer time or on Fourth of July.

Berry Fruity Layered Dessert

The beauty of layered desserts is the unimaginable number of combinations you can create. So, when my dear friend called in to say that she was coming to see me in 30 minutes, I thought of nothing else to pamper the lovely mommy-to-be in her second trimester.

My recent order of a bulk package of freeze-dried berries from Amazon was a godsend.

Ingredients for Berry Fruity Layered Dessert

Add to it a can of mixed fruits, cake (I almost always have one around) and whipped cream frosting.

I started by making a quick berry sauce by boiling freeze dried berries with some water and sugar. After that, it was only the assembly. Cake slices go in first, followed by whipped cream, the prepared berry sauce and finally, the chopped fruits.

Garnish with more cream and half a cherry on top. Here’s a side shot showing the layers:
