Garden Roses Cupcake
These
cupcakes are much easier than they look. Create a pretty garden
with little roses right on your cupcake.
Ingredients:
For the Cupcakes
1/2 cup soft butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
For Decorating
Whipped Cream, sweetened
Green and Orange (or other desired) Food Colors
Small Open Star Icing Tip
Makes: 16 cupcakes
Directions:
1. Combine together and beat butter, sugar and vanilla until creamy and then beat in the egg.
2. Sift together flour, baking soda
and salt and stir into the butter mixture.
3. Spoon by rounded tablespoon (one to a cup) into paper lined 2
inch cupcake cups.
4. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven
and cool.
5. Keep some whipped cream and aside and divide the remaining in
two parts and mix green and orange (or any other desired color for
making the flowers) separately. Fill the icing bag with green
frosting first. For making both the garden and the roses, you will
need the same tip.
6. When the cupcakes are completely cooled, spread the plain
whipped cream on them.
7. Now, start making the garden. Place the tip at a 45 degree
angle one inch from the rim of the cupcake and press lightly making
a one inch long grassy line towards the rim. Complete a circle in
this way. Start the circle another 3/4 inch in from the existing
circle and start making similar grassy lines. Since the gap was
only 3/4 inch this time and you are making 1 inch long lines, your
grass lines will come over the existing circle you just made. The
ends of the lines of this circle will overlap with the starting
points of the lines of the previous circle. Continue working in
circles but don't restrict just to decorating in circles. Keep in
mind that you need to fill in the entire space with frosting
'grass'.
7. Once the garden is ready, it's time to make the roses. Using
the same tip, use a different color (we have used orange), pipe out
the frosting in a circle at the same place. Make 4 or 5 such roses.
Note: If you are a beginner, it will help to try making the
grass on a plate first and then on to your cupcake.
