A Thanksgiving Game the Whole Family Can Enjoy

Most people feel like they know their family pretty well, but you would be surprised at the things you may not know. This fun game helps everyone get to know each other better and can even make you a little more thankful for the people you call family.

Setting up the Game:

One person will have to be the leader and probably won’t be able to play, but you’ll still get to see all the fun. To get the game set up follow these simple steps:

1. Talk to each person that will be at the Thanksgiving dinner and have him or her tell you two things they think no one else there will know about them.

2. Write down what they tell you with their names. This will be your answer key.

3. When you have talked to everyone you are going to create game boards that look kind of like bingo.

4. Use people’s answers in the bingo spaces. For example in one space you could have something like, “This person actually swallowed their first loose tooth.” Make each board a little different.

5. You will also want to make sure you have enough pens and pencils for everyone.

How to Play:

1. Explain to everyone that this will be a little like bingo, except they have to get up and talk to people.

2. The object is to find the person that is described in each space and have them sign off that space, but the catch is that they can only ask one question at a time. So for example, grandkid can come up to grandma and ask her if she swallowed her first loose tooth. Grandma can ask the grandkid one question, and then they must go talk to somebody else. They can talk to each other again but only after they have talked to different people.

3. When somebody fills out their entire card they can yell out bingo. Then the whole family can have fun checking everyone’s answers and asking each other questions.

4. If you have enough people coming you may be able to do this a couple of times, or you can just continue playing without checking anyone’s answers until everyone has filled their card.

A variation of this would be to do favorites. In a space you would put at least three of one persons favorites; such as color, food, book, etc. Then everyone must go around and figure out who belongs in which box as explained before.
