Healthy Dieting - Part 2
Continued from Healthy Dieting -
Part 1
Healthy dieting is so important. Our bodies are put together in
such an incredible, intricate fashion, and they require the best
nutrition we can possibly give them to run efficiently, fight off
illness, and give us energy.
A good tip for healthy dieting is “never say never”. There should
be no foods that you totally write off as off-limits while you are
watching your food intake. Making some of your favorite foods
forbidden only makes you want them more, until one day you will
find yourself gorging on whatever it is that you crave. Whenever I
diet, I make room for chocolate. I absolutely love the stuff –
can’t live without it! And, in successful diets, there is room for
small indulgences. The key words to remember are small and
controlled.
Stay away from fast food as much as possible. It is simply not
worth the calories it gives. Every day you should be eating less
calories than you consume, but I can almost promise that with any
given fast food meal, you’d take in more calories than you should
for your entire day. If you know you have to eat at a fast food
restaurant, try visit their websites ahead of time and plan your
menu before you enter the store. Drink water or tea instead of
soda. And no cheating.
Learn to stop eating the moment you feel satisfied. It takes your
brain twenty minutes to recognize the signal coming from your
stomach which tells it you are full and need to stop eating. Eat
slowly, chew very thoroughly, enjoy your food and stop when
slightly full. Remember, you can always go back to the fridge and
eat more food!! Chances are, you won’t even have to do it.
A food diary or journal helps keep track of every single food that
enters your mouth and when you’re counting calories, it comes in
very handy. Keep it on your kitchen counter for convenience. And
record every little morsel down to the tiniest chocolate chips.
Every calorie counts!
