Each month, Dotcomwomen.com and Thedietsmartplan.com team up to provide easy to follow diet strategies as well as dispelling popular diet myths.

Diet Strategy

The Salt & Pepper Treatment

We all have been out to restaurants where the portions are too large. A simple way to show your willpower without letting others at the table see you are dieting is the salt and pepper treatment. Simply portion out the excess servings and pour on extra salt and pepper. This way you know right away that you are eating the excess portions and it is not as good as the smaller, more reasonable portion. Others at the table will be impressed with your restraint and self control.

Diet Myth

Natural fiber laxatives are a good way to lose weight.

We have all seen the ads for fiber laxatives. They advertise a healthy lifestyle and what is known as a “fiber-diet” if taken everyday. The myth is that the product is going to help you lose weight. It is going to keep you regular, but green vegetables and other “free foods” can work just as well. If you don’t eat enough fiber, these products can help you feel better, but it is your dietary choices, not the laxative, that is going to help you lose the weight. Save your money, eat more free foods.
