SUPPLIES
Afghan measures approximately 51 x 42”.
These models made with RED HEART® Super Saver®,
100% Acrylic, Art. E300 (8 oz. Solid/6 oz multicolor skeins) and
RED HEART® “Holiday”, Art N381 (3.5 oz. Solid and
3 oz. Marl balls).
Amount and Colors Used: Variation No. 1: 2 Skeins E300 No. 376
Burgundy and 3 skeins N381 No. 3008 Wine w/Gold CA,
2 skeins E300 No. 303 Painted Desert and 3 skeins N381 No. 3010
Victorian w/Gold CB.
Crochet Hook: U.S. Size 8 mm [L-11]
Yarn needle
GAUGE: Motif = 3 ˝”. CHECK YOUR
CAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge given.
NOTE: Work with 2 strands held together as
one throughout.
AFGHAN
First Motif: Ch 5; join with a sl
st to form a ring. Rnd 1: Ch 5, [dc in ring, ch
2] 7 times; join with a sl st to 3rd ch of ch-5. Rnd 2:
Sl st into sp, ch 3 (2 dc, ch 2, 3dc) all in same sp, skip next sp
[(3dc, ch 2, 3dc) all in next sp, skip next sp] 3 times; join with
a sl st in top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Next Motif: Work Rnd 1 same as
First Motif. Rnd 2: Sl st into sp, ch 3, 2 dc in
same sp, ch 1; sl st in corner sp of completed square –
corner joined; ch 1, 3 dc in same sp on joining square;
sl st between next two 3-dc groups on completed square –
side joined; skip next sp on join square, 3 dc in next
sp, ch 1, join corner, ch 1; complete same as for First Motif.
Join all Motifs following Diagram.
BORDER: Rnd 1: Attach CA
in any corner sp, ch 3, (2dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in same sp, * 3 dc
between next two 3-dc groups, [3 dc in next sp] 2 times; rep from
* around working 3dc, ch 3, 3dc in each corner; join to beg ch 3;
TURN. Rnd 2: Attach CB
in same st as joining, ch 1, sc in same st, ch 1, skip next st, *
sc in next st, ch 1, skip next st; rep from * around working sc,
ch 3, sc in each corner; join; TURN. Rnd 3:
Attach CA in same st as joining, ch 2, * sc in
ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next sc; rep from * around working sc, ch 3,
sc in each corner; join; TURN. Rnd 4: With
CB , rep Rnd 3. Rnd 5 (Right Side):
Ch 1, sc in each sc and ch-1 sp around working 3 sc in each corner
ch-3 sp; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
