Homemade Gift Ideas for Christmas
Dried Topiaries
My sister and I created dried topiaries for my mother and
grandmothers one year for Christmas. We used dried roses, baby's
breath and ribbon. Arranging them on a large foam ball and had a
painted flower pot as the base for the topiary. They all loved
them.

Mason Jar Snow globes
Well my aunt Michelle called me saying this year we were going
to have a down home homemade Christmas, so I went to the store and
got 12 mason jars, took them home with the intention of making
cookie jars for everyone and then it hit me, how great would it be
to make homemade snow globes so I got some glitter - any kind you
wish - and the gift receiver’s favorite toy (in mini size of
course) and super glued it to the bottom of the jar. I waited
until completely set, filled it with water almost to the top
leaving a small air pocket, put some glitter in it (you decide how
much you like - a little or a lot), super glued the top on and
there you have it.
A homemade snow globe and everyone’s is different and
everyone’s the same. They all get the same - a snow globe - and
they all get different because it has their favorite thing inside.
It was so much fun making these and I thank my aunt for thinking
of a homemade Christmas. I will pass it down to my children.

Yummy Holiday Treat Cookbook
A very thoughtful Christmas gift is using all your creativity.
Take all you favorite recipes and make a cookbook to share with
your family and friends. If you would rather make a Yummy Holiday
Treat Cookbook, gather all your favorite cookie;pie;cake;candy;etc
recipes and add a few fun and interesting facts about Christmas in
between recipes. How festive is that. People will not only love
the cookbook, but will appreciate the wonderful ideas and recipes.
For the front cover if you have kids in the house, have them
design the front cover. Take it to a Kinkos have it
laminated and you gather all the recipes. Have your husband type
the recipes as you gather them and it will be a group family
Christmas gift.

Jar Cakes
This is a wonderful gift to give. It is so simple yet it leaves
most people delighted and you will be sure to get the questions
"how did you do that" over and over. It is very inexpensive and
you get several done at once. Experiment with different cakes.
This is my favorite gift to make.
You will need a straight wide mouth canning jar. It must be the
straight wide mouth jar to make the cake slide out with ease. Next
you will need your favorite cake recipe. If you are in a pinch for
time go ahead and use a boxed cake mix. Lightly spray the jar with
cooking spray. Fill the jars only half way full of cake batter.
Place the jars on a cookie sheet and bake. Time depends on size of
jars. Just check for doneness with toothpick. When done remove
from oven and immediately place seals and bands on jars. Just be
careful and be sure to use oven mittens, jars are very HOT. The
heat will make the jars seal. You can decorate them with ribbon of
many sorts and fabric. Wait till you taste them. Mmmmm... They are
so moist.
Most people who receive them don't want to open them because
they look so neat but insist that they do. They will be delighted
they did. Enjoy. I have been told different things on how long
they can be stored and eaten. I personally make them a couple of
days prior to giving them away and don't advise you wait too long
to eat them. Keep in refrigerator or freezer for longer storage.
