CHRISTMAS
ORNAMENTS FROM OLD CARDS
Materials
needed:
You will need:
Several old Christmas cards
Glue
Circle and corresponding triangle pattern
Scissors
Directions:
Decide what size ornament you want to
make and transfer the corresponding triangle and circle patterns
to a piece of heavy card stock or plastic (coffee can lids work
well for this). A 1 ½ inch circle makes an ornament that is
approximately 3 inches in diameter.
Using your circle pattern as a guide,
cut 20 circles from old Christmas cards. If you can center designs
in the center of the circles that is best.
Place the triangle pattern in the
middle of one of the circles (right side up) and fold the sides of
the circle in around the triangle as shown:
Do this for each of the 20 circles.
Arrange the tabs so that they stand straight up.
Choose five of the folded circles and
glue one tab from the first circle to a tab from the second
circle:
Continue glueing tabs until all five
circles are glued together:
They should be arranged like this with
the tabs sticking up:
When you glue the last two sides
together it will form a dome. This is the bottom of the ornament.
To form the middle of the ornament,
select 5 circles and glue them together as follows:
Glue a to b to form a ring and glue it
to the bottom of the ornament matching the tabs as you go.
Form the top of the ornament just like
the bottom but before gluing the last two pieces together,
remember to attach the ends of a piece of colorful string to hang
the ornament by. Bring the loop to the outside and glue the top
together.
Line up the tabs on the top with the
tabs on the middle and glue them together to complete the
ornament. For a sparkly effect, you can run a line of glue along
the edges of each of the tabs, then dip them in glitter.
