Fall/Winter 2006-2007 Sweaters Trends

Every season, certain fashion trends emerge that become beloved classics. This fall is no exception! Here are some of the hottest fall trends that you’ll want to keep in your closet for years to come:

Plaid — Scotland-inspired plaid is a hot trend for fall. To implement plaid into your wardrobe, go modern with a knee-length plaid skirt with a bit of flounce, then finish the look with a fitted black top and black boots. To add luxury, try a gleaming gold belt or pearl accessories.

Tweed — Tweed is another popular choice this fall. The trick to this look is small doses and feminine touches. Try a newsboy cap made of tweed, or a stylish tweed handbag. If you must wear tweed blazers, trousers or skirts, keep the rest of your look sleek and neutral in tones of black or white to balance the severity of the tweed. Pearls are always great accessories for tweed, as is anything sterling silver or diamond.

Feminine Touches — Girlie looks are hot this fall. Think lace and ribbon adornments. Sheer and floaty fabrics. Bows and beading. To add feminine flair to any outfit, try romantic jewelry, soft makeup and gently waved hair. Pale pink is a great way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe, or go extra-girlie and pair pale and bright pinks together in one ensemble.

Menswear Inspired — On the other end of the spectrum are menswear inspired looks. Think crisp white shirts, conservative black blazers, and even hats such as the bowler or fedora. The trick to working the menswear look is to wear in moderation. Try one or two menswear inspired details per outfit and keep the rest of your look feminine.

Retro Details — When you think of this trend, think patent leather pumps, pencil skirts, strands of pearls and bright red lipstick. Like most trends, this one works if you use it sparingly. This is nowhere more applicable then with red lipstick. Keep your eyes and cheeks neutral yet lightly defined to provide balance a crimson pout.

High Boots — High boots, preferably above the knee, are another fall trend that can stand the test of time. Try pairing high boots with jeans, leggings or a miniskirt for a smoking hot look. When choosing your boots, go for a dark neutral like black or deep chocolate brown. And always match tights, pantyhose or leggings to the color of your boots for a sophisticated, leg-lengthening look.

Dangling Jewelry — One feminine detail that’s fashionable for fall is dangling jewelry. Think long, chandelier earrings and necklaces that reach the navel. For a classic variation on this trend, try strands of pearls in varying lengths.
