Christmas Party Countdown: Planning Your Outfit

Christmas party season is always something to look forward to; it provides the first opportunity of the festive period to get dressed up and let your hair down. Planning what to wear should be all part of the fun, but if you leave it too late you could find yourself rummaging around your floordrobe on the night of work’s Christmas party desperately searching for last year’s crumpled dress. To make life a little easier, we’ve prepared a guide to finding the perfect Christmas party outfit.

If you can’t quite decide what look to go for, Pinterest is great for establishing the kind of style that you naturally gravitate towards. Pin anything that you like the look of, and when you come to review your pinned images closer to the time, you’ll be able to establish a trend in the kind of look you want to go for.

1 Month to Go: Start Shopping

A month before your Christmas party, hit the shops to see what’s around. If you don’t come away with anything at this stage, it’s no big deal as you’ve still got plenty of time left.

It might be the case that you pick up a few things you like the look of and take them home to try out with a clutch bag or pair of shoes that you already have to see which looks best. You can always return the rest of your purchases to the store once you’ve found the right combination.

If you’ve still got to find the finishing accessories, or even are still yet to find an outfit altogether, now is the time to get serious. Devote a weekend to shopping and make sure you find the perfect outfit. If you’re accessorising with items you already own, like a pair of shoes or a favorite clutch bag, make sure you take those items with you so you can try on complete outfits in the store.

The Night Before: Outfit Building

Lay out your outfit the night before and play around with different elements. Add a pair of diamond earrings like the ones from Diamond Boutique and try out different lipstick and nail polish combinations to complete the look.
