How to Get the Audrey Hepburn Look
Audrey
Hepburn never followed fashion, yet she was one of the most
fashionable women in history and still remains a style icon to
this day.
How did she do it? She simply wore clothes which suited her
shape and made her feel comfortable. She was once quoted as
saying, “Clothes are positively a passion with me”. She adored
them and only wore the things she liked...when she liked.
If you want to look as good as Audrey (well, almost as good),
here are seven ways to steal her style.
Rock the flats. Audrey was the first person to wear
ballet flats in public, and it became a fashion which has lasted
decades – people still wear them today.
Own a pair of oversized sunglasses. The most well-known
image of Audrey is as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's,
gazing into that magical store through her Jackie O-style
shades.
Ignore labels. Yes, Audrey was a good friend of Givenchy
and loved to wear his clothes – and only wore jewellery from
Tiffany's or Cartier – but she was able to mix high-end with
high street and make it look the epitome of cool.
Get a small dog. Audrey owned a Yorkshire Terrier, which
she named Famous. A-list celebrities still follow this trend
today – think Paris Hilton and her Chihuahua, Tinkerbell.
Always be well groomed. It's important to have a regular
manicure and keep your eyebrows well shaped if you want to look
Audrey-esque at all times.
Stand up straight! Good posture is key. You never saw Audrey
slouching, did you?
Know when to tone it down. At home, Audrey liked to wear
jeans and a Lacoste polo shirt – and still managed to look
fabulous.
Follow these few pointers and you'll soon be as glamorous,
sophisticated and stylish as Audrey herself! If you need any
further advice, take heed of this classic, heartwarming Hepburn
quote:
"For attractive lips, speak only words of
kindness; For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people; For a
slim figure, share your food with the hungry; For beautiful
hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day; For
poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”
