Adding Some Sparkle To Your Holiday Appearance – Holiday Beauty, Fashion & Makeup Tips

Now that you have your Christmas ensemble picked out, and you’ve chosen your jewelry, –hopefully with care, –it’s time to “put your face on” for the party. Instead of doing the usual thing with your makeup and hair, why not try something fun, and new?

A low cut gown or blouse is a woman’s best friend, and if you’re planning to show off your neckline, and reveal an elegant glimpse of cleavage at the party this year, then you probably already have the perfect necklace. To make your décolletage glow a little this year’s party, shop around for some scented shimmer body powder, or perfumed shimmer body mist. Just spritz, or dust a little of the product onto your chest before you put on your dress, and you’ll be glittering elegantly in no time. Victoria’s Secret Hidden Garden collection offers many similar products, with non-irritating ingredients.

Using the powder instead of the mist however, might be a better idea, if you plan to use a little on your face. Make sure that the formula is gentle however; it might not be safe to put near your eyes. Most body shimmer powder is formulated with few chemicals, and for sensitive skin. If you’re confident in your shimmer powder, dust just a little over the bridge of your nose, and eyelids, after you’ve applied the rest of your makeup.

Another “eye-dea” is selecting seasonal shimmering eye shadow. Choose something light and shimmery, for the whole eyelid, or choose a colour that’s deep and vibrant, for just the outer corners of your eyelids. Many products found have soothing formulas for sensitive skin, that might be irritated easily. A favourite product of mine that includes gentle glycerin moisturisers, and softening cucumber extracts, is Pixie Dust, by Too Faced.

For your hair this year, spice up that up or down do with a decorative ribbon. After all, a great hairstyle makes a great gift as well. While you’re browsing through wrapping paper at the store, go over to the crafts section, and select around twenty-six inches of 2 1/2 inch wide ribbon for up-do’s and one inch wide ribbon for down do’s. When selecting your ribbon, be sure to get something with glittery or shiny accents or designs. For up-do’s, tie the thick ribbon in a perfect bow, and slip a bobby pin into the back of it, then pin it into your up-do for a sexy, shiny fashion accessory. If you plan to leave your hair down for the party this year, tie the smaller width ribbon into a bow, and insert the bobby pin into the pack. Pin the bow into your tresses just as you would normally insert a barrette; from the front of your hair, to the back, making sure it doesn’t slip. The extra cloth between your hair and the other side of the bobby pin will make it more snug.
